David Sedaris has an entertaining perspective on life and can be especially endearing if your dad is of Greek ancestry, if you like France and its capital and if you are sympathetic to the gay experience. While I wouldn't pass this book on to my daughters or mother for fear they would think I have a sick sense of humor, I will recommend to my husband and other male and female adult friends.

Drifters by Michnener is a wonderful travelogue especially if you've spent any time on the beaches of Spain and the markets of Morroco. His characters are young, idealistic, adventurous and brave. I loved this journey during a turbulent time in America's history. If only all of Michener's stories could be this compelling.

The Serenity of Whiteness: Stories By and About Women in Contemporary China
Review Date: 6/10/2007

Zhu Hong has brought together powerful stories about women by women. She has also challenged English language readers to understand some of the unspoken social do's and don't of the twentieth century Chinese. Really loved this collection and passed it on to my mother who also likes it.
