A romance/horror/fantasy with a reasonable dollop of each. Lyrical and spooky, though I didn't end up feeling very worried about the characters.

It's a first novel, and the rough edges do show a bit. The characters are competent, engaging, and heroic, but the author gives them a little too much free rein to run around in whatever direction they like, which makes the overall arc a little bumpy. There's a lot of interesting stuff in the book, it just isn't stitched together as well as a more practiced writer might have done.
