What a compelling read!! This mystery/thriller will hook you from the first page. If you are a fan of the Harry Bosch detective, this is one of his best stories. His daughter lives in Hong Kong with Harry's ex and Harry gets news that she's been abducted! Somehow this connects with his current murder case in LA and he has to figure out how with only 2 days to spare. It is a wild race across the Pacific and back again before he figures it out. Who will come out of this mess alive? What a page-turner.

Very compelling!! You will race through this book. This is the story of Fran Bennedetto, on the outside she is an accomplished ER nurse with a wonderful 8-year old son. Her husband, Bobby, is a police officer with a violent side that he takes out on her...but only where it won't show. She finally has the courage to disappear with her son and this story explores the difficulty of starting over under a new identity. You will admire her courage in adapting to her new life. And you will wait in terror, as she does, until her husband eventually finds her!

Great thriller! Michael Connelly is a master story teller with great attention to detail. This is the second in the Harry Bosch series. He is a meverick LAPD homicide detective who gets assigned to a murder that becomes personal going all the way back to his Viet Nam days. A fascinating thriller and you'll be surprised who the final traitor turns out to be. Don't miss this one.

I love the Harry Bosch series. He's a great homicide detective in LA with a lot of baggage from his Viet Nam past. This novel involves the death of two LA cops and Harry catches the case. He follows a bloody string of murders from Hollywood down to the back alleys south of the border. This is a complex and compelling murder mystery in which Harry is likely to be one of the victims. Fast paced and well written.

Joanne Harris injects just enough magic in this novel of a man finding himself after throwing away his life on an impulse. After a best-selling novel, this writer wanders aimlessly for years looking for inspiration. he moves to France on an impulse and finds so much more than a new novel. A great read.

Another top notch Alex Delaware novel. You're not sure of the culprit until the last 50 pages. Interesting look at how the LA rich live.

Reading this novel is like finding out what really happened at your neighbor's house when everything fell apart. The pages literally turned themselves. Mitchard has the ability to depict this family with candor, empathy and wit. When Julieanne's husband of 20 years decides to take a sabbatical from their marriage and 3 children, it soon becomes apparent that he's not coming back. Her sense of betrayal is complicated by her diagnosis of MS. While she is incapacitated, the children must fend for themselves with some help from her best friend. Julieanne is an accomplished Advice Columnist...but now it is her own family problems she somehow has to find the strength to solve.

I was enthralled by this book! Richard Russo has the gift of bringing the sad realities of a small manufacturing town in the Northeast to life. This drama examines the relationships between the four prominent families in the town of Thomaston NY. From the poorest to the rich, the threads of their lives weave through forty years. It is a wonderful story that could be anyone's journey into adulthood. Wit, charm, love, heartbreak, treachery, hope...all these emotions are there for the happy reading.

Joanne Harris knows well how to tell a charming story. After losing her mother, a prodigal daughter returns to the tiny French island of her father. She tries to repair their relationship but discovers the island is in a sad state of decline. Follow her story as she fights to save it alongside a mysterious stranger. Plenty of family secrets are revealed along the way.

This book was a heartbreakingly beautiful story. So much the better when you have the movie faces in your mind's eye. A magnificent novel told in haunting detail. This was one of my top five favorites.

When a high-profile politician goes missing, Sandford's thriller takes off! Jake Winter is a political "fixer" who gets assigned to the case. Winter's character is breezy, competent and wise to the insincere ways of Washington. A quick read...great for the summer.

I couldn't put this book down! The psychological suspense is unrelenting. On the outside the doctor, his wife and children have the perfect family but all is not right. The wife becomes restless because of the doctor's ambitious work schedule. She falls into an affair with a local painter who also teaches at her school. The affair has disastrous consequences and you will be on the edge of your seat!

This is a beautiful story of a man, a retired doctor, on the road to self discovery. He sets out intending to commit suicide but events along the way eventually change his mind. This is a poignant story of a man's ultimate love for his family. I found myself pleading with him not to do this...but I won't ruin the ending. Read for yourself!

I could not put this book down! A wonderful story about 3 young women who travel to India in 1928...one to be married to a cavalry officer, one as her bridesmaid and the last as their chaperone. This book is surprising, exciting, mysterious and full of action. It brings to life the characters and beauty of India during Ghandi's influence. They live through the unrest and rioting in protest against British rule. I highly recommend this book!

Anita Shreve tells a compelling story of a foundling baby girl raised by a mother who didn't want her and a father who doted on her. Andrew is the boy next door who loves her like a sister. Not until he returns to this small town after 19 years for his mother's funeral, does he realize how obsessed he is with finding out the truth about her and her family. Shreve writes with guarded language and the tension slowly builds to a stunning climax. What a great read!!
