A prophetic novel of the totalitarian future in the mold of "Brave New World" and "1984," yet predating them. Written in the early 1920s, it was originally denied publication in Russia. Zamyatin, who was a commanding presence in Russian literature in the 1920s, is now largely forgotten. This book contains a very informative introduction.
