Help Center - How does the Vacation Hold affect PaperBackSwap emails?

Search Terms:

PaperBackSwap auto-emails will not be affected by a Vacation Hold.

  • All ongoing (active) requests will still generate the normal emails
    • This means that you will get auto-email reminders about books you have requested that are en route, asking if you have received the books
      • Just mark the books received when you get home, if they have arrived
      • If they have been declared lost in the mail before then, mark them received from your Transaction Archive
      • If you will be away for a prolonged time, you might want to send a Personal Message before you leave to any members from whom you requested books, to let them know you will mark the books received when you get back.
    • You will also get any auto-emails about books that were requested from you before your account Hold began
  • All clubwide emails (these are rare) will still be sent
  • If you are subscribed to the Newsletter, this will still be sent to you
  • All auto-emails you have not opted out of in the Email Settings will still be sent to you.

The only emails you will not get from PBS during a Hold are emails requesting a book that was on your Bookshelf when the Hold went into effect.

  • If you get a request by email while your Bookshelf is on Hold, that means:
    • The request was submitted before your bookshelf went on hold, and this is a second or third notification or reminder email
    • You Posted books onto your Bookshelf during a Hold
      • any books newly posted during a Hold will NOT be "hidden" by the Hold.
      • only the books that were ON the bookshelf (and not involved in an active request) will be hidden by the Hold.

How to tell if your account is on Vacation Hold:

To see if you have an active Vacation Hold (and see the end date), just:

  • log into your account and look at your My Account main page:

http://www.paperbackswap.com/members/index.php

  • If you have an active or scheduled hold, a message about that will appear in a pink box near the top of the page. (There will also be a button in that message to "unhold your account".)
