This is a True story about an Amish girl named Lizzie. I thought that the Amish had all good, faithful, obedient children. Lizzie is headstrong, disobedient, wants to play as teenager instead of work. Her older sister Emma is the model child that Lizzie is not.Lizzie eats high fat food and junk, causing her face to break out.Her mom buys her Clearasil lotion. Her mother and sisters tell her to eat less and lay off the high fat junk. Her dad moves from prosperous pallet Business to a a very run down farm. LIzzie is lazy, she does not like milking cows, housework, sewing or babies. A neighbor has her come and help her paint her kitchen and Lizzie spills paint all over the floor, table , chairs. She does not care, she thinks if she is bad enough her parents will not hire her out as a maid. At 15 years old she works for a farmer grading eggs and flirts with an older English truck driver even riding with him in his truck.Lizzie's parents find out and they call the farmer and tell him what happened and that Lizzie no longer will work there. This is a unique book that is written by an Amish woman Linda Byler about true life Amish experiences. This is a very well, written and interesting book. I appreciated Ms. Bylers candor about the truthful ness of Amish life. They too have prodigal children.
