Harris continues her character development and plot twists that keep the series interesting in this 8th installment that decidedly moves away from the paranormal romance genre to simply paranormal. This book shows the series is not about Sookie and her guy (whoever he may be), but is instead about Sookie and the supernatural community she is now a part of. Sookie is trying to figure out if she's a good or bad person, and the reader is trying to decide that not just about Sookie, but about the supernatural world in general. It's a wonderful turn to take, particularly in a series that is this long. Of course, the Jason/Hotshot storyline is still cringe-worthy. I have no idea what Harris was thinking when she went that direction. Also, we get to meet yet another northern woman who is naturally a bitch. That prejudice is particularly annoying to a northern female fan. However, in spite of those things, this entry in the series is fresh and entertaining, and I'm excited to read the next one.

Check out my extended review.
