I was really disappointed with this most recent installment of the Anita Blake series. I understand this book wasn't intended to be a real sequel or the next true novel in the series; but if that is the case I wouldn't have even published it. The entire book can be summed up as follows.

1 Anita fills in for Larry during a crisis.
2 Anita and Micah fly east to raise a zombie for the FBI.
3 Anita manufactures things to stress about regarding her relationship with Micah. These things include, but are not limited to: a nice hotel room, being alone with Micah, neither party asking about the others scars, Micah, Micah, Micah...
4 Micah tells a few little tid bits about his past, and the attack that infected him with lycanthropy.
5 More interactions with Anita and Micah that are too graphic for words. I'm not talking the "Gee I shouldn't be reading this but it's kinda fun..." type of graphic, I'm talking total and complete astonishment, I didn't enjoy it in the least.
6 Lastly, a small fraction of the book is Anita in a cemetery with all kinds of crazy new powers. That is always fun but it was much, much, much, to short.
7 Lastly I have a huge issue with the conclution of the story. I just didn't buy Anita ending up hospitalized after such a minor incident. It just isn't believeable considering everything else she has lived and maintained consciousness through.

Hope this helps you decide if you should purchase this book or wait till the next. If you are anything like I am however, I have read the entire series and I feel like I am past the point of no return. I will no doubt read all LKH's books unless the sex takes up more than 2/3 of the story.
