Lilly Yazhi is a young woman working for her grandfather in a small California town. She keeps to herself, not wanting a relationship since she sworn off men after a teenage romance went bad. But the new veterinary assistant, Clay Tahoma, has caught her eye. Clay is a talented "horse whisperer" who wants to use his persuasive talents on Lilly, if she'll let him close.

This is the 13th book in Robyn Carr's Virgin River series. This time we have two new characters taking the lead in the book. Both Clay and Lilly have had relationship problems in the past and are somewhat reluctant to get involved. It's a nice story but I really wasn't invested in the characters, maybe because they hadn't been introduced before.

As usual, there are other things going on in this book. Busybody Hope McCrea has died and bequeathed her fortune to the town, leaving Jack as executor. Jack wants to carry out Hope's wishes and improve the town, but some people in Virgin River have other plans for the money.

A new guy named Denny has come to Virgin River looking for his birth father. And, Colin Reardon has been involved in a flying accident and will need lots of time to recover...probably in Virgin River. I like that Carr introduces many different threads into her story. It's nice to have a little background on her characters when their story becomes front and center. My rating: 4 Stars.
