By far Dan Brown's best work (that I've read, anyway.) This is everything a historical thriller should be: fast-paced, suspenseful, and leaving you hanging at every turn, and yet smart and interesting as well. The book manages to strike that perfect balance between thrilling adventure and thought-provoking issues that Dan Brown has never quite managed to duplicate since. There's a lot of information, and yet it all fits with what's going on. Everything in the novel is very tight. Similarly, the central issue of faith versus reason is presented in a very balanced way, not leaning too much on either side and showing the good and the bad of both ways of thinking. You'll be amazed at how quickly you read this book, the story moves so quickly. It's maybe not the world's greatest book, but it's definitely a great read.
