The main character of the story is a teenage boy, that adores his grandfather but has doubts of the validity of his peculiar stories. After the grandfather's death the boys father takes him to the moors of the UK,where his grandfather grew up. Not only does he discover that his grandfather's outlandish stories were true, but that Jacob has to carry on in grandfather's steps to save the "peculiar" world in which he and others live.
This book may appeal to preteen through adult readers.
