Helpful Score: 1
Being a fan of Greek mythology, I was anxious to read this anthology for several years. I'm afraid to say I was disappointed. I don't usually like short stories and this collection was not to my liking at all despite my expectations to the contrary. The only story I can sincerely say I liked was Elizabeth Vaughan's contribution because it was one of the best written and most engaging to read. But really, none of the stories put me in mind of a modern Pandora's box retelling. Pandora opened a box of trouble and woe on the world but she also let loose hope. A story that is inspired by Pandora's box, to me, suggests a dangerous situation that has a silver lining if viewed from the right perspective. I found that many of the stories didn't strike the right balance between danger and hope, and if they did have that element I thought they weren't very interesting stories or that well written. Ultimately this collection is very forgettable.
