This one is a combo of love story and really, really scary mystery with overtones of not human creatures. Shades of THE EXORCIST, but a lot bloodier.

From back cover: While the winds howl and the snows drift in the sleepy ski resort town of Silver, a rampaging evil spirit is unleashed from Silver's Corkscrew mountain tunnel. Ancient and immortal, the Trickster takes human and animal form and begins a calculated series of horrifying killings, leaving a bloody trail of mutilated and frozen corpses.
Native American Sam Hunt turned his back on his shaman ancestry and built a life for his wife and children in the modern world. But his entire future is threatened when police make him the prime suspect in the gruesome murders. Little does Sam know, he is also the only man capable of stopping the Trickster. But to lock up the evil and safeguard his family, he must revisit his past, stay a step ahead of the police ... and give the devil his due.
