Henry DeTamble is chronologically impaired, subject to involuntary and unpredictable jaunts in time, into his past, into his future, back to the present--all grounded by his love affair with Clare Abshire, a six year old, twentysomething, thirtyish...child/bohemian/artist/wife.... "Time Traveler..." is a most unusual story of love and fate--sad, funny, hopeful, puzzling, challenging, terrifying but most of all a lovely, lovely love story. Ranks in my top ten list of recent literary fiction.
