A departure from his previous Eleanor Roosevelt series, this book is set right before FDR's presidency and the main character is Blackjack Endicott, a man who walks in a world inhabited by Al Capone, Dutch Schultz, the hitmen of Tammany Hall and the bluest blood on the east coast. Interesting character and the authentic air of history in Roosevelt's books in still present and enjoyable.
