I disliked this book for various reasons. It was difficult to get beyond the use of gratuitous profanity and it added to this books non-relative literary value. While I love most depictions of this era I felt that the author was so influenced by making her characters likeable and influential that she missed the mark in developing their characters as a whole. I would not recommend this book to young readers even though it's main character is a 14 year old girl. The author's lame attempt at trying to make it a coming of age story was grossly done and most of those 'scenes' were awkward and out of place. I read it expecting something better to develop, but it never happened.
