Okay, I didn't like the pivotal event in the book, but I really didn't like that the main character in the book never caught on. He had his whole life to make up for his mistake. He never does it. Not really. He doesn't see that he can redeem himself. He doesn't take his opportunities. Wow! What a tough choice.
The book is too neat. Everything is related extremely well - like "Holes". But it's too neat. You can see what is coming for a long time. This does work well for the anguish you feel for the âheroâ of the story. You can feel bad for a long time. But it's too unreal. The story becomes too frustrating because the "hero" never learns.
