About half way through this book, it dawned on me, there are no real adult characters, i.e., parents in this book about high school cheerleaders. Maybe that was the author's point? The old "It's 10:00 do you know where your children are?" thing. And maybe I'm really naive, but what adult in their right mind, coaching a high school team, goes out drinking with the team??? (At her OWN house?) I'm sure the hierarchy in high school sports is brutal, and some kids, okay, some girls can be cut-throat. But man this went to new heights. And this is almost really just a back story to the real meat of the book-what little there is of it. It could have been the field hockey team. I found myself practically screaming at some of the characters, especially 'Coach', "What the hell do you think you are doing?". If you ever cheered in high school you might find this book interesting, but I hope it doesn't ring true. Maybe a little too much technical cheering jargon for the average (Non cheer) person. Read where this is going to be a movie. Lord help us.
