I really enjoyed this book, and even gave it to my wife to read. It was humorous without being overdone, poignant without being melodramatic, and sweet without being saccharine. She also enjoyed the book. My wife and I normally have such different reading interests that if is a true rarity that we both eyjoy. While certainly not on the literary level of Dicken's "Hard Times" or Styron's "Sophie's Choice," or even (to choose a book with a similar concept) Octavia Butler's "Kindred," I found it to be a very entertaining piece of reading material.
