I think I've read all of Mr. Bahr's work. This is the first that doesn't involve the Civil War-but does take place in Mississippi. Lots of characters, all wonderfully written-I know very little about the railroad, or trains, but by the end I felt as if I'd had a master class in it. About half way though you sort of know what is coming, but you keep reading anyway. Bahr has an amazing way of describing his characters so well that you really feel as if you know the person.
