Joan, just a note that deals are not to be posted in this forum.  There is a "homeschool" thread at the BB.

JC, if you get back to this thread, I'm wondering where the homeschool thread is in Book Bazaar?

I agree that we don't want the Homeschool forum inundated with deals, but it might be kind of nice to have one (sticky?) thread for deals here, where the homeschoolers are more likely to see it. . .

I just posted something similar in the recently posted 2 for 1 deal.

Someone asked R&R about a sticky in B&B, and they haven't rec'd an answer yet.

So someone else started a "Homeschool Deals" thread in the BB.  I subscribed to it ("watch this topic") so I receive an email anytime someone posts in it.

Well, it started to get *very* long, so I asked people to start a new thread each month, and post it here.  Then I just subscribe to that thread, etc.

You can always search the forums for "homeschool deals" to find it, instead of scrolling through threads.

Here is the May thread.  Just subcribe to it - although there will be a June one as soon as someone posts it.

Hey, my post was removed!  That makes me really mad!  EVERYONE here agrees with me about the BB and the stupidity of the new no deals in discussion area rule.  So why do the powers that be insist on the rule?  Still no answer on that one!  Sigh...

Oh well, with the Post office and gas prices continuing to rise I am using PBS less and less.  I can find better deals at Half Priced Books and I it makes me mad to support a site that wants to push my business away by not making it easy for me to find deals.  I absolutely refuse to use the BB and I do not subscribe to threads because i get enough emails as it is and do not want more.  I prefer to check this board once a day for deals like I always have - easy, quick, and keeps my inbox cleaned out!

I have to agree!  I like coming here to find deals.  The book bazaar is just too busy anymore!

I hate the Book Bazaar too.  But I also don't want the Homeschooler's Corner turning into a Children's Book Bazaar.  I don't want to wade through that either.

Just to remind everyone, if you have posted some LifePacs or Abeka or Ambleside or something.  You may certainly tell us all about it and PLEASE DO!!  It is perfectly O.K. to highlight your bookshelf here.  I've gotten some of my curriculum that way that I probably wouldn't have as I don't search regularly for some titles.  I personally don't see anything wrong with sliding a deal into that type of post (I don't know if the powers that be would agree)  because you are first and foremost highlighting homeschool specific products on your shelf.

I wish we had a sticky thread up top for deals too but the deal in the BB works fine for now.  I haven't found that it generates an excessive amount of e-mails but that's subjective I suppose.    I browsed through the two bookshelves that mentioned deals and I believe one of them did not have anything specifically geared towards homeschooling just children's books.  IF deals were allowed in genre specific forums it would be my opinion that children's book deals should stay with the children's books.  I stop in there too from time to time.  I like the specific homeschool nature of this forum.  (but since that is not allowed I guess BB is where it's at)  I don't see why every genre can't have a sticky thread with deals at the top like the romance genre (did I get that right?  or is it chick lit?) Anyway,  do you suppose they need volunteers to moderate?

I just checked and chick-lit does have it!  Why would they do that for one genre and not others?  If it is volunteers they need...just ask!  I am sure they would be able to find people who are willing.
