"Cute, fast read. Great for vacation or summer reading."

"Haines goes a little more toward the realm of "huh?" with this story about a town that believes there is a werewolf on the loose. She also gets into the background of some characters and the book sometimes feels melodramatic. Set in 1943ish Louisiana in the bayou parish of Iberia, some of the Cajun/French speech pattern and words were difficult for this Connecticut Yankee to adjust to. A few unnecessary characters, though all the characters were likeable. I've enjoyed her other works so much more, but overall Fever Moon was a good read."

"Like many others, I read this book because of the hype. In fairness, I don't care for romance books and didn't realize this was classified as such.
I don't understand how this book is in a mainstream book store and not an adult book store. EL James leaves NOTHING to the imagination. I also found myself feeling angry....not only with the characters in the book, but also with myself for wasting my time reading it.
There's no story here folks, unless it's about a weak young girl with so little self-worth she's willing to do ANYTHING for a man; and a man who is very willing to take advantage of that young girl to satisfy HIS needs.
One aggravating thing I found in this book was Ana's request for more out of the relationship (more normalcy, more love, more respect, etc.) Grey's mantra of "I'm trying "more." I never once read him remotely trying to do anything for Ana's request of "more." Everything he did that he claimed was "trying" was done for his own needs, not Ana's.
Another is Ana always going back for more and making excuses for him. The end, while odd, was something that I kept hoping for throughout the book (which is why I kept reading.)
The relationship is one of the most abusive (physical and emotional) and unhealthy I've ever read. I shudder to think the message it sends to young women."

"One of the few occassions where I preferred the movie over the book."

"I didn't enjoy this as much a Stephanie Plum novel, but a fun read just the same. Great for the beach or vacation. Engaging, but not much brain power required."

"If you enjoy Carolyn Haines "Bones" series, you'll love Penumbra. Set in the south in the 60s, it keeps you guessing right till the end. The social climate plays a big part without over-shadowing the story. Jade is a very likeable character and I hope we hear more from her."

"Sarah Booth sees dead people...well, just one. The ghost of her ancestors' nanny, who provides insights that help her solve her cases, like Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone shuffles her index cards. I found the idea of the ghost very interesting.
In general, the characters are excentric and well written. I was guessing "who-dunnit" until the very end and was wrong every time."

"A great first novel! There was a little too much technical/medical jargon for me, but still fairly easy to read. Very much a thriller!"

"I'm a HUGE Carolyn Haines fan, but did not like this book. It was more romance, less mystery. I got about 2/3 thru reading it and stopped because it just wasn't my cup of tea."
