There are not many books that I will read and reread, but this is one that I will. It is such a delightful book, that kids really love. Shows how imagination and passing word from one person to the next can really get out of hand. Very sensitive kids may be a bit frightened until you get to the end.

I LOVE this book! Not only is it fun to read but it is also a great beginning to read book. I really have trouble with helping kids read with BORING books, so this is a great place to start. There is not a lot of figuring out to do, so once they figure out the pattern they can predict what comes next and feel successful as a reader. All my kids 'read' this as one of their first books. They loved to read it over and over.

This novel study by "Teacher Guide" has, for each chapter, vocabulary, comprehension questions, and other activities which involve thinking, writing and literary elements (plot, setting, etc) and post reading activities plus other activities that can be done for assessment.

If you like the 39 Clues books, you will like this series of books. A brother and sister find themselves trying to figure out clues like spies to track down where their mother is. Lots of gadgets and suspenseful events.

I enjoyed using this book. It is a good one to use for printing and then again for cursive, or, you could use it like I did, for two kids at different levels at the same time. It presents the letters in alphabetical order, so I picked and chose the letters based on similarities after looking at other websites so that all my children were learning letters that were alike close to each other. The fact that you can easily tear the pages out on the perforated lines helps in this.

In my opinion, though there are many, many homeschool books out there, this, along with Ruth Beechick's other two "Three R"s books are the only ones you need through grade one and even higher. It helps you to see how to apply math principles that you are already using when you are teaching your kids, so that they are learning with you as you go about your daily life.

One of my all time favorite books for "reading" to toddlers. It has no words, but the pictures are delightful and the fanciful adventures of the baby and dog Carl are fun to imagine. I recommend all Carl books by Alexandra Day

This is a teacher's guide to a great novel by a great author, Sid Flieschman, set during the California Gold Rush. This is a unit study approach where each set of chapters has comprehension question, a group activity (most of which can also be done alone), a hands on project, a science, geography, music or math activity and a few other activities. We loved reading this novel which was about relationships and what makes a family.

My boys absolutely loved having their dad read this to them. And for many months afterward there was a lot of teasing going on if a person behaved in a certain way he was referred to as one of the characters (either good or bad) in the book. One of their all time favorites!

This book is just so much fun. I read it aloud to two of my kids, then we also listened to it on audio a few years later so the younger one could also enjoy it. It made us laugh so many times. I think it would be a good book to help with kids understanding that not everyone fits the mold of what society thinks they should be as Mr. Popper is not just an average kind of guy. In addition to being a great read aloud it is also good for grade 4-6 kids (or older) to read on their own.

If you are looking for a good book to help kids learn to read (especially boys) look no further. Many books at this level just use repetition or painful rhyming and easy words but do not meet the requirement of a good story - introduction, problem, development then resolution. This series, on the other, hand usually has some absurd occurrence conveyed then follows the path of a good story perfectly - and using so few words its amazing. And most of them are funny too. They fill the gap between books that just label things to first readers. "See Pip Point" is my favorite, with "Swing, Otto Swing" a close second.

This is a great story that teaches good character while being very entertaining. We listened to the audio as read by he author, and it was well worth the price.The many adventures of the inch high characters with predators such as wasps, ants, other bugs as well as other animals, both friends and foes, in addition to the "inventions", makes for a story that has the reader turning the page for more.

I LOVED this book, and if you don't mind your kids laughing at you when you cry, or if your kids might actually cry along with you this is a great book about about learning to read and about a patient, loving and caring teacher. It is also about how heartless other kids can be.
