"This book was much harder for me to get into than I expected it to be. It was slow going for a long time. There were several times when I almost stopped reading it entirely, but I held out till the end. The ending was anticlimactic to me. I didn't hate the book, but I just ended up feeling indifferent by the end of it. Sadly, there isn't a neutral option when choosing the number of stars, so I practiced grade inflation and gave it 3 out of 5 instead of 2 out of 5."

"After watching the movie, I bought the book asap. It was a great read, well-written and very engaging even for someone who is not a football fan by any stretch of the imagination. I plan on working it into my history elective syllabus."

"The book ended, but the story seemed to be left unfinished. I ended up feeling irritated at the amount of time I had spent reading the book."

"This a nice, light read that you can easily put down and pick up at a moment's notice, which is always a big plus in my book. The best part to me were the individual dog personalities that emerge from each pooch that Ellie encounters in the book."

"The tone of the book and its pacing didn't appeal to me. It felt very slow in numerous sections and left me disliking most of the main characters."

"A sweet book that has rich characters who are not perfect but who are clearly true-to-life. The dogs, especially Beatrice, will melt your heart."

"A book that keeps your interest peaked and provides the reader with wonderful and historically accurate windows on the experiences of those who lived in earlier times."

"I loved this book. It is a quick read that is fun and light. Jane Spring is anything but a run of the mill character. She is a woman who is attractive, focused, and unfailingly honest to everyone around her, including the men she dates. This turns out to be more than any of the men can handle, and she continually finds herself alone. Jane tries to change this by basing her behavior on an unusual role model and the book takes flight from there.
Definitely worth the time to read. WWDD!"
