"One of the best books I have ever read. Not for the faint of heart. Very stark, realistic, haunting - definitely not a happily ever after book. The author makes the characters in her book live. Even weeks after I finished reading this book, I still miss Gertie."

"Parts of this book were really good. Overall characters did not feel real."

"I thought preview of this book sounded really good, but the book turned out only so-so. Story is based on a very flimsy premise which was hard to believe or relate to. Very disappointing."

"Another great Tom Eidson book. The Last Ride is the original from which the tv movie The Missing was made. The books are very similar and also very different. The ages of the children are different and major parts of the books/movie are different, so do not think that once you have read one of them you do not need to read the other. They are different enough to make two very delightful reads. Yes, there is a touch of de ja vue, but not enough to make you stop reading."

"I never like self help books, but this one did have something to offer. Byron Katie looks at life with a unique perspective that works for her and I am trying to apply her suggestions to my own life. It has only been a few weeks and already I can tell a difference and all the changes are within me. Coming to terms with and accepting the truth that you cannot change another person is invigorating. Just letting them be can free your own life and those around you feel better too."

"What a great book! Stay alert and on your toes while reading this book. Nothing is as it appears and you will find yourself flipping back pages to see if you missed something. Not a good bedtime book because it is impossible to put down about halfway through. You will love it."

"I am a great fan of Thomas Eidson but I must say Souls of Angels is nowhere near the grandeur of St Agnes Stand or The Missing. I kept waiting for it to improve, but I read the entire book and it never happened for me. I was extremely disappointed with this book."

"This is without a doubt the most worthless book I have ever read. Maybe if I were younger I could better connect, but I doubt it. It was difficult to relate to the main character, the author, and not enough information about her husband to form a solid opinion; though I would really like to know why, after more than 20 years of marriage, he suddenly began treating her so cruelly. She found a way to deal with it that worked for her; but in reality it would be difficult, if not impossible, for most women to accomplish. The only good thing I took away with me is ordering a book she referred to explaining her method of enduring her crisis - as well as her life in general. Maybe it will give me some insight that I found missing in her book. The book received great reviews, but I found very little of value in her story and reading it was a complete waste of my time."

"Good light reading. Nicholas Sparks is a high-end romance writer."

"I wanted to read this book because it is written by a Houstonian and is about Texas although I believe that the people and places in Bruce Machart's book could be set anywhere. Parts of the book are uniquely Texan, but overall the lives of his characters could be lived outside Texas. He builds strong characters and his writing is superb. I hope to hear more from him."
