Sequel to Decision at Doona, but not necessarily a prerequisite to read.

Max is good writer; having taken Shamus and Edgar awards for his works. His original graphic novel was made into the Tom Hanks vehicle, Road to Perdition. Recently, he's turned to novelizations. His version of Clint Eastwood's In the Line of Fire was better than the movie.
This, his early entry into his CSI original novels, is a solid police procedural/physical evidence stlye mystery. The charachters, whom I've never seen on TV, seem well written with bits of their life entering the story in an appropriate manner. With the cast of 4 CSI's, one supervisor, and two dectective/police, this is no easy task. I enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading some more new Max, now that I've found him again.
I also recommend his Eliot Ness series of historical novels is also very good. Some of his stories take place near his home along the Illinois/Iowa border of "Quad Cities": Moline, Rock Island, etc; a metropolis that rivals large cities in size. Enjoy

Card threw me for a loop by changing the how he named characters. I thought he had petered out and should have stopped with four books but the climax was pretty good; including a religious conversion. Questions are left unanswered.

Better than average Quantum Leap book. Sam is pitted against the 'evil leaper' who threatens to leap into anyone he ever touches. She also makes an emotional appeal to him because they are in similar situations. Sam's target is a historical recreationist (SCA) type who has written a medieval romance book, the subject of which forms a love triangle with his competitor in the joust; who also claims to have written the book. If that weren't tricky enough, the target is destined to design a critical component of the Leap mechanism.

The Last Precinct (Kay Scarpetta, Bk 11) (Audio Cassette) (Abridged)
Review Date: 4/19/2007

One of the last good Scarpetta novels. As an audio, it's good for a long trip or to make a daily commute go faster. If you've never tried audiobooks you'd be surprised how easily you can jump back to where you left off.

Sequel to Rainbow Abyss; Second in Sun-Cross. Unfortunately, on the magicless world Jaldus and Rhion crossed over to, the sun-cross is backwards: a swasticka. We are left with the assistant, Rhion, who doesn't know how to recreate the abyss to cross back to his magical world after his master died. And he is being held by the Nazi's occult bureau; trying to use magic to gain an advantage in the war. It's an okay book that I had to read to see what happened to the main character.

Really liked it, especially the early Vatta story. I like the SCi-fi stories more than the fantasy. However, the primitive tribe that learns to protect their buried dead from time-traveling grave-robbers (archeologists) is quite good.

First in a series; really gave me an idea of what working in a radio station would be like. I'm regifting to a friend who did so, along with 'Slip Cue' which I also thourougly enjoyed. Good mystery with some suspense (defined as: get your character in danger)

An Early Peter David Star Trek. Better than the average ST book; less funny than the average Peter David. A good read. I keep an eye out for any PAD book. Movie adaptations are a good place to start: Spider-man, Fantastic Four, etc. His Sir Apropos is his funniest fantasy; eh injects his toungue firmly in his cheek when he writes.
