"I can see the draw of writing an autobiography as fiction: you know the character, your life isn't exciting enough for a memoir, you can't think of anything else to write about. But usually they don't work. The author is too close to the source. She doesn't want to make herself look bad, or even worse, make the supporting characters look bad because her friends know it's them thinly disguised. That is a problem in this book. The author is a psychic and wrote about her life as a psychic and then put in some dead bodies. She goes into great detail about what it feels like to be a psychic - too much detail. Since this is fiction, have the psychic part be a little more simple. Have her have one super power instead of 5. All of the supporting characters are perfect. They're all generous and smart and funny and have no annoying (or interesting) traits. The main character comes off as a bitch because everyone else is being so nice to her, but she doesn't want to call them to say there's a killer after her because then they would catch the guy and the story would be over. Instead she starts a fight over nothing and goes off in a snit so she can be in danger in the next chapter. You can do better than these books."

"Predictable and boring book. The setting is great. Toronto seems ideal for vampires, but the plot and characters were forgettable."

"I like Shannon Hale's writing and enjoyed Goose Girl. This book seemed to drag. I couldn't get behind Enna's choices or understand where she was coming from. She was too passive for a Hale main character. I was disappointed."

"My perfect book. The excellent continuation of Miss Dido Kent's adventures with mystery, libraries, and insight into the issues facing women which are always glossed over by Regency Romance.
Highly recommended for lovers of detection novels, Jane Austen, and intelligent reads."

"I like vampire books. I like romances. I hated this book. This book is torture porn. There was way too much violence and rape than was needed to move the story. It was gratuitous. After the first couple of characters were tortured and raped, I thought the story would start up, but there was just more violence. All of the violence didn't leave much room for character development or any kind of plot. If you're into that sort of thing, go for this book, but if you want vampires and romance, there are much better books out there."

"I really enjoyed this book. I read this one before Uglies, and enjoyed it the most out of the series. I really liked the unexpected language used by the pretties. Recommended."

"Loved this book. Having the story split between historical times and the present made it very interesting, and it's more intelligent than most historical romances. The characters are smart and fun. Highly recommended."

"I really liked this book, #3 in the Husband Hunter's Club. The heroine is feisty and thinks for herself. The hero is shy and gawky, nothing like the guy on the cover, and vastly more to my taste. I especially liked that the heroine is from poor gentry so works in the home, and the setting is in the country so the heroine had more freedom. Fun read!"

"This book was awful. Modern P&P - all for it. Darcy a judge and Elizabeth a lawyer - good idea. Using the P&P names for the characters in this book - doesn't quite work. That I could get over, if this book had a story. Darcy and Elizabeth are there, but they keep themselves apart with no help from anyone else. This leads to a very boring courtship. There are no subplots and the actions of the other characters are minimal at best. Such a promising premise, wasted."

"This book was boring. A lot of the same items from the Stephanie Plum series are here: mysterious hot guy, tracking down weirdos, explosions, fast food, but without the attention to detail. There are kookie friends, but not enough friends and they're not all that kookie. The main character's name is Lizzy, but I don't remember her last name or back story or really anything about her. I guess she's a struggling cookbook writer, but that doesn't really lead to dynamic tension. It's a fast read, but there's really no point."
