This book was just not interesting to me. I'm not opposed to "smartass" personalities (as she calls herself), but this woman is just irritating. I definitely agree with others who recommend checking out her blog first to get a sense of her writing style, before wasting your money (or a credit). I wish I would've done that!

This was my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I will definitely be checking out her other works. What a beautifully written story - I cared about each character & enjoyed lots of detail about the daily workings of a restaurant, clientele, food and the roads that lead us to the next chapters of our lives. Really loved it!

This story was interesting from the minute I started reading it. I loved the way Cora, the main character, grew and learned about herself as her life went on - and how she accepted people with compassion, understanding and love. It was a reminder that life really is an adventure, no matter who you are or where you come from.

I finished this book in 2 days because it was such a fun read! I loved it! The author did a great job with character development and you really get a feel for the personalities behind the characters. This book is more than just fun British chick-lit... it's well written and will keep you guessing!

I loved this book! I could 'hear' James Garner's voice telling the story and that was a treat. Lots of great details about his life and career. It was very interesting to hear how certain events in his life transpired and why he made the choices he made.

I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it's chick-lit but there's a good story there and I enjoyed the character development as well as the twist of sibling rivalry that was not done in a typical or hateful way. It will whisk you away to Santa Barbara and remind you that people & situations are not always what they seem.

I absolutely loved this book. It started out a bit slow & didn't hook me at first, but once the characters started developing, I found it hard to put down. There is such a beauty in the bond of friendship & in the human ability to learn, accept differences & grow (if one chooses to do so :-) and this story really touches on all those things. It also has some light mystery, which was done really well. I was thrilled to realize that this is book 1 in a series and I just ordered book 2!

This is a book that I will remember forever. I've read many books and even if I love them, they tend to drift from my memory soon after I finish the last page. This book is not one of them. It was incredibly well written, very touching, heartbreaking at times and powerful. The characters came to life and it's amazing how much emotion this story evokes, in so many different ways. Definitely a book that you don't want to pass up!

I loved this book. The story was intriguing and very interesting. It was a bit intense for me in a couple of parts due to subject matter (murder), but nothing that kept me from finishing it in 2 days. I could not put it down (which is fine if you're on vacation, but not if you have to go to work, lol :-). One of Mary Kay Andrews best.

I've only just discovered Jill Mansell & I'm a big fan! Her characters always have a 'realness' about them that draws you in. This is a good book, in the British Chick-Lit tradition, with some interesting characters that don't always do what you might expect.

This is a wonderful book and I loved it. It's heartbreaking at times, funny at times and enlightening as well. I really felt every character and it was beautifully written. They say "It's how we survive the hurts in life that give us our strength and beauty", and this book will leave you feeling that truth. It's about love, kindness and the strength of the female spirit.

I loved this book. It had a great storyline & I couldn't put it down. It was painful in parts, due to deep emotions that I could relate to, but that made it even better. It makes you think about the decisions you make (or made) in life and the true meaning of love & friendship.

This is the second Elin Hilderbrand book I've read (first one was Blue Bistro) and I can't wait to read another!

I've read every one of Hester Browne's previous books and loved them, but I'm sorry to say this book just didn't do it for me. I was very bored & found most of the characters only mildly engaging. To me, this book just lacked the interesting characters & clever storyline of her previous books.
