Roman Chandler, the foreign news correspondent, has returned home temporarily to find a wife and get her with child. He then intends to desert her and return to his own life of hunting down the next story. Admirably, he is doing this to appease his ill mother who wants grandkids before she dies. However, this scenario is hardly admirable. he's looking for a broodmare who will live alone with no assistance from her husband.

So I really can't say that I enjoyed this book. Roman is a nice enough guy with most things but I just couldn't get past this attitude eventhough he eventually does.

Carly Phillips writes with such natural ease and humour, I feel like I'm watching a play sometimes....excellent book...fun...great characters. I've read this whole trilogy and it truly compliments one another, yet, you could still read any of the books by themselves and enjoy them.

The small town of Yorkshire Falls and its colorful inhabitants including a mysterious panty-raider and a fun-loving but devious mother are a sturdy stage for Phillips's (Erotic Invitation) romantic romp. After news of his mother's weak heart summons him home, globetrotting journalist Roman Chandler loses a coin toss with his brothers that determines who will relinquish his bachelor status to give their mother a grandchild. Roman decides to "settle down" without giving up his travel-intensive job, and as one of the most handsome men in town, he can have his pick of the local women except for Charlotte Bronson, his high school crush. Thoughts of her parents' miserable long-distance marriage keep Charlotte from accepting Roman's proposal, despite the sexual sparks that fly at their every encounter. Mutual attraction eventually proves too powerful to resist, however, but first Roman must win her trust. Though Phillips gives sensual friction and emotional introspection equal attention, the emotional chemistry between Roman and Charlotte merely simmers while the sexual chemistry explodes. The first in a Chandler brothers trilogy, this entry will encourage readers who enjoy dining on passion to pick up the next book, but those who prefer more emotionally bonded characters may chose a different course.

This is the first book in a series about three brothers being pressured to get married by their mother. The book was a really fast read filled with lots of romanace and humor. I really enjoyed this book. Actually I couldn't put it down. The characters were really interesting. There were times that I thought that the story was a bit rushed. Overall a really good romance novel. I definitely plan on reading the rest of the series.

I really loved this book and the whole series. I was very surprised at my reaction since I'm not into romances that much, but this series sucks you in. I finished each of the three books in less than 24 hours a piece.

This book is the first book of a 3 book series. It is a wonderful & humorous romance book and the first book I have ever read from this author. The book really captures the essence of a close knit family and how they deal with love, promises, commitment & romance in a small town. Roman Chandler, the ultimate bachelor, is determined to give his ill matchmaking mother the grandchildren she desires. He just doesn't expect to lose his heart along the way.

I want to read more books from this author.

Not bad for the contrived plot. A quick read. Predictable. I almost put it down on about page 10 because of the mom's "scheme", but I'm glad I read it because in the end she did catch some grief for it and it wasn't considered "acceptable". Enjoy!

It's really well written. I found the relationship transitions and responses to be very natural. A lot more believable than most books. The ending seemed a little rushed, though. I'm looking forward to the next two books in the series.
