Really enjoyed listening to this cd. Makes you want to go out and start a Christmas cookie club just because of all the wonderful friendships. Very heart warming.

Wonderful, heart warming story about several women and their struggle through life. Great book! Am planning to buy copies for my girlfriends and sisters for Christmas.

I listened to the unabridged version on 7 CDs.
I thought it was okay but not as "cheerful" as I would have hoped. As each of the 12 friends of Marnie hand out the cookies they have made to be shared, the story of their lives is presented. There are many single mothers in the group and so we are presented with the story of their struggles and triumphs: a death of a son, the many divorces, the stories of infidelity.
On the positive side, there is a very strong bond between the women and they are very supportive of one another. I guess this is why it is a popular book.
I did find her cookie receipes interesting, along with the discussion of some herbs.

I could not get past the first cd of this book. It may get better but , I will never know. The recipes are nice, but I did not enjoy the minute details of one womans everyday life. I could not relate to her imperfect life and her perfect cookies, LOL. I was hoping for something a little more light-hearted. I thought "cookie bitches"(her term) would be funny.
