1st in Grace Valley trilogy. I enjoyed this book and compare it to the Mitford series by Jan Karon only with more drama going on. There's a secret romance that spans all 3 books before concluding. I compare it to the Mitford books in that there's a community and a LOT of characters are introduced -sometimes it's hard to keep them straight! But the problems are really big sometimes and deal with abuse, death, secrets. The main character is a female doctor who has returned to the small town in the valley, amongst drug growers, to help her father as the town's/community's only doctor. She meets an undercover DEA agent and pursues a secret romance. This book was fairly light on the romance thought possibly a tad descriptive for those who pretty much stick with christian romance/Debbie Macomber type reads. I'm used to more graphic (though I do read Macomber!)so I felt it was a tad light on the romance and seemed to be more along the lines of women's fiction. Also the romance does not conclude so if you really care about that aspect you'll probably want to continue the trilogy, which luckily you can now do since they were reprinted(I had to hit ebay and just about every used site for the 3rd when I was reading these a year or so ago!) A nice trilogy and this and the last were probably my favorites of the 3.

I love this author. I read the Virgin River series and had to read the prequel series. This is the 1st of the Doc Hudson trilogy. Great story. Great character development.

Excellent book in a series. Good storyline, interesting characters. This is one of those "re-read" books for the future. The Grace Valley series is every bit as interesting as the Virgin River series. Get both series because you will want to delve into the next book as soon as you finish the one you are on.

Very enjoyable book by Robyn Carr. This is the first book in the Grace Valley trilogy a small town (fictional) in northern California. Dr. June Hudson is the doctor for a large rural area and plays the main character in all three books. If you have enjoyed Robyn's Virgin River series and haven't read these books I highly recommend them. Start here with Deep In The Valley.

Deep in the Valley is the first book in the Grace Valley Trilogy. Carr does a great job developing the characters and pulling the reader in to their stories. After reading the Grace Valley Trilogy, follow up with the Virgin River series.

Carr's books make me feel happy. Her characters are human, lovable, and eccentric, and in the end they do right by one another. I am eager to read the next two books in this trilogy, and if I owned this book and hadn't just checked it out of the library, I would keep it.

There are 3 books concerning the same characters. Each is a story in itself, but it helps to know what happened in the other books.

Good, but tough to identify with the characters...a little slower moving than the previous series by Robyn Carr. Still - good stories and I'm ready for the next one.

I am really enjoying reading Robyn Carr's books, it is almost like watching a long running soap opera. Plenty of time for the characters to grow and change.

After medical school, June Hudson returned to her hometown to follow in her father's footsteps as the town doctor. But years of doctoring in a small town is hard work and June is looking for another doctor to help carry the load. She hires Dr. John Stone who, along with his family, is looking to get out of the city and live in a small town. John seems to fit right into their community, until June receives information that John may be hiding a terrible secret.

This is the first book in Robyn Carr's Grace Valley trilogy, which is more or less a prequel to her Virgin River series. Carr introduces us to June, John, and many other characters in the town where everyone knows everyone's business, but some still have secrets. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely will be reading the rest of the series. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Welcome to Grace Valley, California - where blood runs thicker, ties bind stronger and love is all the more sweet.
Visitors to the town often remark about the valley's peace and beauty - both of which are plentiful. Unlocked doors, front porches, pies cooling in the windows - this is country life at its finest. But visitors don't always see what lies at the heart of a community. Or just beyond....

June Hudson grew up in Grace Valley, the daughter of the town doctor. Leaving only to get her medical training, she returned home and followed in her father's footsteps. Some might say she chose the easy, comfortable route...but June knows better. For June, her emergency room is wherever she's needed- or wherever a patient finds her. Always on call, her work is her life, these people her extended family. Which is a good thing, since this is a town where you should have picked your husband in the ninth grade. Grace Valley is not exactly the place to meet eligible men- until an undercover DEA agent suddenly starts appearing at all sorts of strange hours.

Everybody has secrets down in the valley. Now June has one of her own.
