I couldn't put this book down! What a splendid narrative about westward pioneering. You will fall in love with Mollie -- a girl full of gumption! This journal covers her teen years and early marriage, the Civil War, the Gold Rush -- fascinating and true glimpse at an important era in American history -- through the eyes of a great, strong, insightful female role model.

An interesting read. These are the actual journals of a young girl on the plains of Nebraska and the mountains of Colorado in the 1800s. Sometimes difficult to keep track of all the people, but still a great read!!!!!

Describes her years from age 18 to 27. She is a bit self serving, but who among us isnt'? It's very readable, and she clearly enjoyed, or at least had a wonderful attitude toward, the challanges she faced and overcame.

If you always wanted to live in the pioneer days, this is your kind of book. Very real, and true to life.
