It's been so long as in years since I read the last book in this series, it was a little difficult trying to remember what it was about. But once I got into it after a few pages, it all came back (almost) that's the bad thing about waiting so long in between books for a series. But this one didn't disappoint, and the relationship between Sarah and Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy is getting a little more visible!
This is one of Ms Thompson's better books in this series. My review of her book before this one mentioned that she tends to reiterate some points a bit too much and the story can get a bit bogged down and boring. Not this time! This was a great mystery with just the right amount of reminder to the reader. It was delightful and I was happy to be reading this series again.

This is another outstanding addition to an equally outstanding series! Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy is asked by Felix Decker to investigate the strange demise of a member of his exclusive gentleman's club. It seems that Chilton Dsvies was not quite the gentleman he appeared to be....twists and turns and several red herrings.......A must read by all "Gaslight Mystery" fans.....

Influential businessman Felix Decker calls Detective sergeant Frank Malloy to investigate a death at the exclusive Knickerbocker Club. Chilton Devries has been found dead at the club. At first they believed he had died from a heart attack, until they discovered the blood stain on the back of his chair. Mr. Decker wants to know who murdered Mr. Devries and even offers his daughter, Sarah Brandt, as someone who can help Malloy. Malloy is happy for the help, especially since he and Sarah have solved some tough cases together. But Sarah believes that her father is testing more than Malloy's investigative skills.
This is another great addition to the Gaslight Mystery series. They mystery is enjoyable, even though it was pretty easy to figure out. It's the characters that shine in this story, especially Mrs. Decker who also takes part in the investigation. Her character has certainly evolved since the beginning of the series. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
