I am reading this series from the beginning and this, the third book is absolutely my favorite so far. That being said I am a medical professional and love medical history. If you are interested in the current controversy over vaccines and autism and/or are interested in diphtheria and a good mystery with a female protagonist who happens to be a priest this book is for you. I must say it encompassed all my interests (except dogs :-)) and was well researched and written. I guess you can tell I loved it!

I really like Russ and Clare two of the most unlikely pair of sluths and romance matches. Never know what secrets small towns can tell. This is the 3rd in a series and I'm now going to read the others really caught my attention.

A story of events that happened 50 years ago that affect what begins to happen at present. Clare and Russ find themselves both investigating the town's history but from different angles. Many surprises await the reader.

Not much comment on this one, I'm sure it is one that a lot would really like but it is very slow to get to the main story then it just a back and forth between 'then and now' and to me it got very boring and very slow so I just gave up on it getting any better, but I'm sure there are some that would like it.

Third in the series. I'd forgotten the whole anti-vaxx thing in this book from the first time I read it, so when that started I thought to myself, oh no, I just can't... But I went on. I ended up liking the mystery very much, with a long-ago disappearance linked to a new case, and interspersing the narrative from the two time periods was good. The Reverend, though - boy she sure spends an awful lot of time doing things unrelated to her parish duties, doesn't she? I get the whole ministering to those most in need, but I guess the congregation is small enough she has a lot of time on her hands? Well anyway, she's definitely a thrill-seeker and taking tea with prospective donors has to be boring. I know a lot of readers object to the emotional adultery going on between the sheriff and the reverend, but I think it's kind of interesting with these two, whose public roles are supposed to be paragons of virtue, getting involved. As usual the two are trapped in peril at the end while the villain scampers off, but of course they escape and justice is done.

This was a little slow at times and Clare wasn't as prominent as in earlier books. However, the ending was very exciting! I look forward to the next book in the series.

"Brings new airs and graces to the typical small-town mystery. Becomes a world you want to visit and hate to leave" A dark past that could bring deadly consequences to the present.

I like this series - maybe it's because I'm Episcopalian and Clare Fergusson is Episcopalian clergy.

3rd in the series and the best so far. This is a wonderful series about an Episcopal priest and her friend the police chief. Their relationship is an interesting side light to the very real mystery.
