Robyn Carr sucked me in to Virgin River yet again! I read Second Chance Pass a few weeks ago and really liked it. I forced myself to hold off on reading Temptation Ridge for a little while, and now I'm kicking myself! Once I started, I could not put this book down.

If you are a fan of this series at all, you will truly enjoy this book. The book description on the back is a bit misleading. Shelby and Luke ARE the main characters (according to the plot), but their story maybe, maybe takes up half of the pages. It is so wonderful to read about all of the familiar characters from past books as well as discovering the stories behind the new faces (Walt & Murial and Cam & Abby).

Luke is a wonderful hero: strong, arrogant, handsome, sexy and wounded (emotionally). It is delightful to watch Shelby get past his barriers. Their "wrong for each other" storyline is pretty predictable, but the way the scenes are written, it's like it is new all over again. Luke is too old for her. She's too innocent for him. He knows that, she knows that, and you know there is going to be a big blow-up over it (even though they had "the talk"). Given that it's a romance, you know there is going to be a happy ending, and it is well worth the journey of reading this book to see how they get there!

Walt Booth's niece Shelby McIntyre has decided to spend a few months in Virgin River to decide what her future holds. At twenty-five, Shelby has had a sheltered life, having spent five years caring for her dying mother. She wants some romance, but when she meets Luke Riordan, he's definitely not the type of man she had in mind.

As with the other books in the Virgin River series, there are several sub-plots. All of them excellent. Great book, but you should definitely read these in order!

Great continuation of the Virgin River series! Love this place and everyone in it - even when the stories take the same path - the people are different and I can't wait to see it turn out great!!! Just the way everyone wants it to!!!

What I love most about Robyn Carrs books are her characters. They are realistic and relatable, even if their circumstances and situations are not. She writes about people I would want to know if they werent fictional.

In the sixth entry in her Virgin River series, we meet 25-year-old virgin Shelby McIntyre. Shes rather naïve about the world, as shes spent much of her time caring for an ailing mother. She wants travel, adventure, and romance. Her Mr. Right will have a clean-shaven jaw, creases in his pants, and an advanced degree.

Then she meets former Blackhawk pilot Luke Riordan.

Luke is handsome, but hes 38 to her 25, and hes seen quite a bit. Hes discharged from the military after 20 years and is tough and jaded. He avoids commitment like the plague. They meet and are instantly attracted to each other, but Luke fears hes too old and jaded for her, and Shelby just wants Luke to love her. There are many funny moments between them, mostly courtesy of her uncle, a retired general.

We also are re-introduced to past characters from previous entries in the series. Walt meets and woos movie star Muriel St. Claire, who moved to Virgin River to escape Hollywood and is restoring a house; Cheryl Creighton, the town drunk from the first book returns and connects with Mel. The doctor from Grants Pass, Cameron, returns (we met him in Second Chance Pass) and he begins a relationship with Vannis friend Abby. Its their story that I loved most.

Luke also befriends Art, a young man with Down syndrome who has escaped from a badly run halfway house. Its through their friendship that we see Luke beginning to thaw and experience love and caring for the first time in a while. Luke and Shelbys romance, while somewhat predictable, did have its moments. Id love to read more about Cam and Abby.

I actually didn't like this one as much as the others in the series but it was still very good. My problem was that I really don't like Cameron or Abby (especially hate when Cameron is playing doctor and Abby is just dumb). Luke and Shelby was great though, especially with Sean and Aidan butting in. Shelby was such a strong character. I'm a little disappointed that Luke was such an emotional wimp. Great to also catch up with Muriel and the General.

Good book, easy read.

Luke and Shelby, as different as night and day, maybe opposites really do attract but can they stick? Handsome men and strong willed women make this another great Virgin River Book. A lot of romance and conflict, a strong bond of community and friends. Just the right amount of sizzle make this another great read by Robyn Carr. I loved this book!

After taking care of her mother through a long illness, Vanni's cousin, Shelby, comes to town to start a new life. She soon meets the emotionally wounded Luke Riordan and falls in love with him. Luke explains to her that he is too old for her and she is too innocent for him, but that doesn't stop her from pursuing him.

This is an excellent addition to Carr's Virgin River series. Not only do we get Shelby & Luke's story which is worth the price of the book; but we also see more of Walt & Muriel's relationship, along with newcomers Cameron & Abby. Of course, all the past characters from the series are included. These books just draw me into the story and I have a hard time putting them down. My rating: 5 Stars.

Luke and Shelby's story was very enjoyable and absorbing but I think the best part of these books (Carr's Virgin River series) is how she weaves the lives of other people in, how she builds for the next book by allowing the lives of the main characters to affect the people around them. The beginning of Cameron and Abby's story, the continuing build of Muriel and Walt's relationship, Cheryl's entry into a program at Mel's insistence and with Mel's help, all these pieces weave in and out of the main story and provide so much depth to the book that it has become perhaps my second favorite in the series (the original is still the one I love best). Robyn Carr writes wonderful romances and this one doesn't disappoint.

This installment of Virgin River brings Vanni's cousin Shelby to town. She is starting her life now that her mother has passed and she is getting that start in VR. This book brings in a new male lead by the name of Luke Riordan. He is not part of the Semper Fi pack, but he is Army and that makes for some fun times between him and Shelby's very PROTECTIVE uncle, Walt, the retired 3 star army general. It moves a little slower than some of the others in places, but it is still a great book and it makes me itch to read even more about my Virgin River family!

I've been reading Carr's Virgin River Series and I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed it. All those military men congregating in this little town so they can get away has made for great strong characters and great reading. I'll continue reading this series!

I love this series. Each book has new main characters (in temptation ridge it is Shelby and Luke) but I really love to see the continuation of stories from previous books. I can't get enough of Jack and Mel who ancor the town and the books, not to mention the cameos from the Grace Valley crew. I love how each of her books have the main romance but she gives lots of supporting characters and relationships significant time. It's like watching a movie with multiple stories going on. I hope she never stops writing the virgin river books!

Luke and Shelby - the two most unlikely to fall in love! But they do, and their love story is fantastic. Keep on writing Ms. Carr - your books are great.
