Dante discovers Morgan living in the house he built 100 years ago. She's discovered his journals, and is turning them into screenplays. He believes she's the reason he is being hunted by vampire killers.
References to a government agency, experimenting on vampires, reminded me a bit too much of a Buffy episode. Otherwise a decent read.

This is a great series with a lot of different angles. This storyline is the introduction of new characters. You don't need to have read the first part of the series to enjoy it. The books were not written in order, so it is best to start at the beginning with the book Wings in the Night.

Morgan & Dante's story. This series reads best if read in the timeline order not published order, as this one sets up nicely for Blue Twilight. But, as with all Maggie's books, I found it an enjoyable read.

It's a different kind of vampire love story. An erotic fantasy that seems real and gets more realistic the more you read. Lots of twists and turns. Definately holds your interest.

"When struggling screenwriter Morgan DeSilva uncovers the ancient leather diaries in the attic of an old house in Maine, she is swept into the seductive world of a long-dead madman who had believed himself a vampire. Now, though Dante's story has made her rich and famous, Morgan is wasting away. At night she dreams of him, an erotic fantasy so real she can see the marks on her neck, feel her life's blood draining from her. Almost as if he were real . . .
"He comes to her at night. Watching her. Wanting her. She is one of The Chosen. She can be his, if he desires. And he desires it so much that he is filled with a terrible fear. He knows that his kiss can save her from destiny's curse, and from the enemies who stalk them both. But to save her, he must trust her. With his life. With his love. With the promise of immortality."

I have just discovered the Maggie Shayne Wings in the Night books and I am burning through them way too fast. I LOVE THEM-and just can't get enough! To me, they are much better than the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Series ( which I thought were the best ever), The Twilight Novels and the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter books all combined. I wish someone would make a TV series about all the Maggie Shayne characters, I'd be in heaven! And to think, she's been around longer than all the rest. I don't know why it took me so long, but I am now an avid fan of this entire series and am trying to start at the beginning and read them through chronologically. Great stuff!

I am reading the series in order. This is the first book that seems to break the traditional "bodice ripper" romance format and steer towards the more modern day vampire/urban fantasy genre. Book was ok- the story line needed a bit more development but as this was the first one in the series to introduce a whole new set of characters without ties to the the original books, I can understand why the author left a lot of loose ends floating around.

This is a book that pulls you in instantly, it has romance, adventure, history, drama, and fatalities. It's a strange twist on a vampire book. I loved this book so much I bought it twice. Didn't even realize that it is a series until after the fact. Not having read previous books didn't have any I'll effect on just reading this book.

An interesting tale involving an aspiring screenwriter's interest in the journals of a man who believed himself to be a vampire, but turned out to be the love of her life. The story of Morgan and Dante leaves a perfect setup for the next chapter involving Sarafina.
