I was really disappointed with this book. I'm not one to stop reading a book after I start it but I was ready to put this back on the bookshelf. This was the first book I have read from Katie MacAlister, which I bought because she was recommended on the forums at Amazon.com but I just thought it was stupid. The character kept talking to herself and even though their was vampires in the story they had none of the characteristics of vampires other than they drink blood. The one vampire was so cheesy and the dialogue between the vampire and Pia was also very cheesy. In fact the dialogue throughout the book was pretty cheesy if you ask me. Their just wasn't anything to catch my attention and the whole time I reading it, I'm thinking how cheesy the storyline and dialogue is. You would be much better off picking up a Kim Harrison, PC Cast, Charlaine Harris or Stephanie Meyers book than this one.

I always look forward to the books written by Katie MacAlister, but this fell a little short on her usual. The characters were good if a little weaker than normal, but the plot was a little disjointed and I felt at the end it was cut short. Maybe to cut right into the next book. I wish she had written this one tighter and just continued, I felt like this was only 1/2 a book. Still if you like some humor with your Vampire it is a good read.

Extremely disjointed - seemed to go on and on and on with no ending. Very hard to get into and I never was that involved with the people in the book. Will not be getting the next one - one was enough! Love her Dark Ones, but this was not a good installment for the series.

Pia Thompson is tired of the same old life. She wants a little action. Pia is almost 40 and has no one to share her bed let alone her life with. She decides to do something to change everything; she is going to take a singles tour of Europe. The trip is good but the single men that are available to choose from leave a lot to be desired. If only they could be like the two tall, dark, handsome, and dangerous guys that she sees in the plaza. Now they could bring her some action. She just has no idea how much.
Kristoff want nothing more than to take the Zorya to the council so she can be judged for her crimes against his people. What he was not expecting was the woman to get herself into so much trouble and for Alec, his best friend, to claim that she is meant to be his beloved.
Katie MacAlister does not disappoint. Zen and the Art of Vampires is a great addition to the Dark Ones series. I finished it in one sitting; my poor children were forced to fend for themselves for a few hours. This book was completely surprising. I had no idea who the killer was, heck I could not figure out who the hero was supposed to be until the end of the book. This is not like the other books that Katie MacAlister has written. The hero is not defined from the beginning of the book, like the others; in fact there are two possible love interests. This is so totally hot! Two hot guys lusting after you total turn on! The ending was quite surprising because the story did not get wrapped up. In fact it looks like there will be a sequel to this book, CROUCHING VAMPIRE HIDDEN FANG, that will continue Pias story.

I loved, loved, loved this book! Truly one of the bright stars of the paranormal genre. I picked this book up ukknowing it was number 6 of a series and now I can't wait to read the others. This book has everything a good paranormal should have: darkly tortured but totally gorgeous vampire hero meets sassy and funny heroine who is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only bad thing about the book was the massive emotional cliff hanger at the end. Can't wait to see how all the drama gets resolved in book 7.

The story arc continues into 'Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang' which is due out in May. The hero and heroine are mated but not together at the end of this book, which I find annoying. If I had realized, I would have simply waited for the next book and read them together - I don't deal with 'serialized' stuff well.
As for the portion of the story you do get - I happen to be reading some of Viehl's Darkyn books at the same time, so the parallels of frothing fanatics wanting to torture, maim and destroy a minority group 'for their own good' is obvious. Of course the parallels to the Inquisition are obvious as well. Overall I didn't think it was as 'fun' as some of her others in this series.

This bok was really good. But you need to read book 2,CROUCHING VAMPIRE HIDDEN FANG , to fine out the end of the story.Tofine out about if the two get togeather or not. In a way its funny, both books.I hate to part with them, but some else might enjoy them as much as i did.

I really enjoyed this book....after reading some reviews I was a bit hesitant but I found it to be funny and with just the right amount of romance. I like a heroine who starts out unsure of herself and finds her inner strength. I even enjoyed the quirky secondary characters...all in all a good read

I'm afraid that this was the least favorite of the Dark Ones books I've read. There was too much antagonism between the heroine and her Dark One. It does lead up to a follow-up book to continue their story, which I'm assuming will resolve things and lead to a more exciting sequel. This one just lacked the laugh-out-loud moments that her other books have had and there was definitely not enough sex! But even with it's faults, it's a good read. I look forward to the next one!
Pretty good. However, I should have read them in order.

I could not get interested in this book.I could only read about 1/4 before i just totally got bored.
This book is, as usual, highly entertaining and a quick read...in fact I read it in one sitting.
It was a cute story. I like how the main character Pia is as stubborn as myself. The only problem with the book is that she made dumb decisions that would not really happen in the real world.
