I will have to say that although I am a loyal reader of Michael Connelly, it did not seem that he wrote this book. Poor prose, choppy sentences, characters did not act true to nature, and Bosch's reckless and thoughtless actions are just not the norm. Did he farm this out to a ghostwriter? Say it isn't so!

this yearly mystery collection is usually good, but the guest editor this year (Joyce Carol Oates) chose some really moody weird stories....
If you like her style, you might enjoy this. At least there was a good Laura Lippman story included!
