I believe when someone says "Added #'s books to my post on such and such page" that they should be required to post a direct link to their original post instead of us searching through the pages for their name.  Just my personal opinion.

I don't even bother to search for those posts.

At the very least, it would be nice if those titles newly listed were provided in the update post.

ETA: Apologies. My post was abrupt and read harsher than I intended, I think. I was at work and time was short.

What I was trying to convey (badly) was that a link is helpful. If you don't want to provide a link, listing the newly added books is more of an enticement for peeps to find the original post.

I'm also happy to help peeps with links. I may stutter when helping because I still have to walk myself through the steps - but I'll try!

If anyone does not know how to post a link to your earlier post, message me and I will send it to you.  I did not know how until recently, I had tried and tried but someone posted on here how to do it and I finally got it.  Not everyone is as computer literate as others.  If you would like to know how to make your book link, I will try to explain that also.

I don't have a bookshelf right now for a couple of reasons. I'm not complaining but I can't afford new books. Sorry, not all of us have that luxury. I have to buy used books from a used bookstore and I use them in games and post them.Someday I want the luxury to buy new books..and other stuff too...

I agree that it would be easier for people to link to their original post when updating their list. It's frustrating to have to search for older posts. Thanks to whoever suggested it!

Is it a coincidence that those who are complaining don't have a bookshelf?  Is this becoming a site where some of us buy new books, pay $3 to ship the new book and then are left with many credits that are valued at about $2/credit.  So that the site is not really a swap site, but rather a place to be able to order books sent to one's home for $2 each.

I have a shelf. It's been on hold for three days because in the last 30 days I've shipped 38 books (18 of those books in the last 14 days). Real life is busy right now for both DH and I. I don't need more credits and I'm trying to spend down what I have.

Please don't assume that those of us who 'complained' are not active. I can sometimes pop into the site in between clients at work or late at night during the week. And by then I'm brain dead. It's frustrating to search through old posts in response to a new post that only states 'I've added new books' and find that those are books that I have no interest in.

If peeps don't want to provide a link, at the very least providing the titles and authors would be helpful.

I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm actually trying to help people move books in a way that's conducive to all who post here.

I am not trying to be snarky either, just saying if your complaining then you need have a remedy - I did not know how until someone was nice enough to tell me how.  Just sayin, I try to help people because someone was nice enough to type out how to tag books, how to make links for them and recently someone posted on here how to link to other pages - I had tried to do that so many times and was very frustrated.

I don't have a bookshelf because I use my books in games and the ones left over I post on here or I give to people, it is my deal with my husband that I will not pay $3.50 to mail a book for a $2 credit so I have to mail in multiples or not mail at all.  I spend about $100 a month on new books, I just choose to use them in games.  I also work in a law firm and my time is very limited but saying I refuse to look for someone's post is not helpful, telling someone how to link it is.

Here is what I copied from someone a few months ago who was nice enough to post it in the Bazaar.....

It is possible to find the distinctive URL for your own special post on a page of a thread on these forums. I've needed to do it at least once or twice before. For instance, I have a post on Page 1 of this very thread. I'll walk through the process of learning how to make a link to that exact post. (And there may be other ways which I simply don't know!)

1. I scroll up to "My Account" at the top of a PBS webpage, and I look at the pulldown menu and click on "My Profile."

2. A blue box is now near the center of the screen. One of the items in that light blue box is: "Forum Posts" and underneath is the number of posts I've made on these forums. (34, in my case, as I type this.)

3. I click on the numeral "34."

4. This brings up a list, starting with the newest, of the various posts I've made in the past.

5. I scroll down to find the one I made soon after this thread was created. The line across the top says: Book Bazaar - ***MARCH 2015 Wishlist Multiples*** - View Inline

6. I move the mouse to get the pointer over the words "View Inline." Those words are linked to that exact post.

7. I right-click. A list of options pops up, and I select "copy link address."

8. I then paste the result into this post: http://www.paperbackswap.com/MARCH-2015-Wishlist-Multiples/topic/301339/?l=25&ls=0#p6643615 That's the URL that will take you (if you click on it) straight to my original post in this thread.

9. I could turn that into a live hyperlink, but it looks clunky the way it is, so instead, I think I will use the link icon on these boards -- the thing right next to the "quote marks" that looks like a couple of links of chain in front of the southern hemisphere of a planet (I think it's supposed to be a planet, anyway) -- and I can create a link along these lines, pasting that URL into the proper place.

I also would prefer that a link is provided to original posts when more books are added to someone's offerings.
