Lori Shepherd knew Aunt Dimity through her mother's bedtime stories. She never knew Aunt Dimity was a real person until a few years after her mother died. She is contacted by a lawfirm, telling her Aunt Dimity has died and she must come for the reading of the will. This book moves from a bed time story, to a mystery to a ghost story and it is a wonderful book that helps you understand grief and love and how to carry on in spite of adversity.

This is a really good series! In this one, Ophelia must try to solve a murder that occurred 5 years before, without much input from her grandmother, Abby. Ophelia's best friend Brian was killed in Iowa City and to move forward, she confronts former Detective Henry Comacho and finds there is much more to this man than she thought. And, of course, she helps solve Brian's murder.

Terrific book! I loved it---Comedy Corner Network comes to Misty Creek, Ky to launch a new show, Dancing with the Rednecks. Abby Harper, a waitress at her mom's diner, is chosen as one of the dancers, thanks to her brother Jesse. (Jesse is the person who wrote an essay and sent it to Comedy Corner so that Misty Creek would be chosen as the site of the dance competition.) Abby is sure it's going to be a disaster....until she meets her hot Latin dance instructor, Rio Martin.

If you like humor and supernatural reads, this is the book for you. By page 9, I was laughing and I absolutely loved it.
Charley Davidson is THE grim reaper and she's also a part-time private investigator. Her life is filled with dead people, quirky friends and relatives and a nightly "visitor" who gives her the hottest "dreams" she's ever had. Her dad is an ex-cop and her uncle Bob is still on the force. She helps solve murders with the help of the dead people that want closure before they leave for heaven.
And then she realizes that the lover who visits her in her dreams may be a boy she met as a child. His name is Reyes but he's also not who---or what---he seems.
Trust me, this is a terrific 1st book. I will definitely be picking up Darynda Jones' 2nd book.

The Ghost and Mrs. McClure (Haunted Bookshop, Bk 1)

What a great series! This author is Cleo Coyle who also writes the Coffee House Mystery series. Penelope Thornton-McClure is a widow with a young son who returns to the small Rhode Island town that was her home town. She joins with her Aunt Sadie in ownership of a mystery/rare books bookshop. She also begins to "talk" to the ghost of Jack Shepard, a private investigator who died in the store in 1949. Jack is "stuck" in the store but when an author is murdered there, Jack and Penelope join to solve the murder. It turns out the author of the "Jack Shield, Private Investigator" series wrote his books based on Jack Shepard's own cases! I'm usually not a fan of the Mickey Spillane/Mike Hammer type book but this is modern day with a splash of Jack's experiences in the 1940's and the mystery of a murder in a bookstore in our modern world.

Each book in this series is better than the one before! Jack, the ghost of a 1940's private investigator who lives in Buy the Book, the mystery/rare books bookstore owned
teams up with Penelope Thornton-McClure. With the help of her aunt and a host of town "characters", they are on the trail of another killer. A very wealthy debutante writes a "tell-all" about the murder of another very wealthy debutante and all of their closest friends. Jack becomes "mobile" when Penelope finds a buffalo nickel in Jack's old case files. As long as Penelope has the nickel, she can "talk" to Jack. It sounds very strange but believe me, it works.

My favorite book, so far, in this series. It combines Jack, the ghost of the Private Investigator who lives in the book store owned by Penelope Thornton-McClure and her aunt, Sadie Thornton with all of the previous characters along with one of my all time favorite authors, Edgar Allan Poe. Who doesn't love a whodunit involving rare books and a mysterious code in a series of books that lead to a treasure? Penelope and Jack, along with the members of the Quindicott Business Owners Association, are out to solve the murders of people who owned or bought a series of books about Edgar Allan Poe. The only problem is no one else believes that anyone was murdered! You'll really enjoy this one!

A bit disappointed in this one....after the last two I expected this would be phenomenal! Well, Jack (the ghost) wasn't around as much and it just did not feel as "developed" as the rest of the books. A quick read but not a GREAT quick read.

With the exception of Lynsay Sands, I really thought this book was just ok. I really hated Sara Blayne's story and skimmed it...the idea was good but the writing was difficult. I am all about easy to read books---extensive introspection and description is not my thing. If you like that sort of thing, this is the book for you.

If I read this book first, I would never have continued with this series. This is called the"1st book of the Others." 1/4 of the book (the beginning) is about the dominance/submission meeting/union of Regina and Misha (Dimitri) and very little of the book was about any conflict between Others that had to be resolved. Mostly it was the "relationship" (again the dominant/submissive) between the two main characters. I did not find them sympathetic, nor did I believe that any woman would agree to a long term relationship after 2-3 sexual encounters and very little talking. Not one I would recommend but you be the judge

I really enjoyed this book. I love tales of wizards and this was terrific from start to finish! It's a real shame the author died and we won't see this continued.
